had hurricane sandy in there. you had the seasonal adjustments that recently changed how they equate the unemployment rate, etcete etcetera. so i think overall that this number has a great potential to miss. we saw a nice report out of adp yesterday morning. it really didn't have as big of an effect as you might think because of the great rally the day before. so to your point, i actually think that there's a little bit of risk that if we miss on the downside, we can be bullish here. if we miss on the sps, many of the traders are looking at a s&p future, so many people think we have to go up and test 1474.51. that would by about a 150-point rally. but -- and if you look at the volatility and the vision being at a low level, tlt a lot of the market numbers are telling us that we should rally. but, again, this number is going to be a very interesting one to watch after last month's number was a bit on the dull side. the one thing i would say is it's nice to get back to watching normality in the market rather than watching d.c. all day. >> i think we're still there. and the deal that we

'll be definitely looking out for you. ♪ >> and tonight, the victims of super storm sandy are being exploited, forgotten about and pushed aside by greedy out of touch lawmakers, because as of this very hour, a full relief package has yet to be approved by the u.s. congress and you're about to find out why. here is the very latest. earlier today the house of representatives, they passed one very limited portion of the sandy relief package that only totalled 7.9 billion, or 9.7 billion dollars to help pay for flood insurance claims. however, the other part of the package which totals more than 51 billion dollars, well, that now remains on hold until january the 15th. now, here is why. now, back in deals, the senate passed a 60 billion dollar disaster relief measure, because the bill was so loaded with outrageous, nonstorm related pork, the g.o.p. leadership, they got to pull it. some of the more outrageous examples of pet projects that harry reid and the democratically controlled senate put into this bill, let's say, 150 million dollars for fishery disasters and places like mississippi and alas

of superstorm sandy? this station here was totally inundated with water. commuters, riders are hoping for a less eventful tuesday morning than they had monday morning. we're going to show that video again. a malfunctioning escalator inexplicably changes direction mid ride and commuters are totally panicked and freaked out by this. many went with their gut. some tried to walk in the opposite direction, others attempted to jump off because they saw the pileup at the bottom of the escalator. truly frightening moments. listen to some of the people involved in this. >> it was like being on a free fall but with people on it. everyone yelling and everyone started looking worried. >> i jumped on to the side, the gap between the two escalators. i was stuck there for a minute. people were sliding past phaoefplt i could -- past me. people piling up at the bottom. >> six people suffered minor injuries. scrapes, bruises, neck and back pain thankfully. the port authority is investigating what exactly caused this. >>gretchen: thanks. let's go to brian at the desk. >>brian: 16 minutes after the hour. afghan pre

deal. they had this hurricane sandy relief mess, they're frustrated with baoehner. they tried to take a stand, but the biggest take away though nine republicans voted against boehner, no, ma'minated allen w kevin mccarthy voted for boehner, there's no real challenger to boehner. >> was this a near death experience? in other words, how tough did boehner worry about this? i know his public visage was very calm, he's not worried, you're quite right the other parts of the leadership were for him. how tough -- is this going to have an impact on mr. boehner's policies, does he become more conservative, robert costa? what happens here? >> he's trying to become more conservative. he went in front of the caucus and pledged not to have closed door meetings with the president any longer. he won't have the kind of grand bargain discussions anymore with the president. that was a real important reason he won a lot of conservative votes today, but he only won 220 votes so it's line herding cats in 2013. what is he going to do when it comes to the debt ceiling? i'm not sure he can count on his caucus

to a vote the needed relief for our fellow americans suffering from hurricane sandy is an outrage. it is an outrage. then they let the session ended without three authorizing the violence against women act. they lead a normal the bipartisan piece of legislation expired for the first time since 1994. putting women across the country at risk all because they wanted to refuse to protect vulnerable populations like immigrants and native americans and members of the ltv steel community. and now with priorities like that, you are not going to be surprised that women share now. emily's list conducted research on independent women voters, not democrat or republican, but independent voters and battleground states and what we found was quite stunning. the women that we've been surveyed were not impressed with congress, granted that is at the stunning part. what is stunning is that 77% of these independent women voters, 77% said congress was, quote, old out of touch male politicians who don't have a clue what life is like for people like them. and i sure that if we had done the poll on new y
